With Jordan Anchoring Defense, Team USA Wins Gold

2016 has been a memorable one for Clippers' center DeAndre Jordan. He was named First Team All-NBA, First Team All-NBA Defense and now, he has earned a Gold Medal. With Jordan starting his third consecutive game, Team USA's defense once again shined as they beat Serbia (5-3), 96-66, in the Gold Medal Game. Jordan finished the game with four points, five rebounds, three blocks and numerous standout bench celebrations.

"This is very special, winning the gold for your country," Jordan said. "To represent your country on a national stage with this group of guys, it is something I will always cherish, it is very special."

Over the final three games, Team USA held Argentina, Spain and Serbia to all shoot below 39 percent and forced them to commit an average of 15.0 turnovers a game.

Nine days ago, Team USA narrowly escaped Serbia in pool play, winning 94-91. Sunday's Gold Medal Game was a different story. Serbia led early on 14-11, their biggest lead of the game, then Team USA went on a 53-21 run and never looked back. Kevin Durant led all scorers with 30 points, including five three-pointers. The 30-point victory was the largest margin of victory at the Olympic final since 1992.

Team USA went a perfect 8-0 in Rio 2016 and captured the Gold Medal for the third consecutive Olympic Games. Clippers' point guard Chris Paul was a member of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Gold Medal Team.

Jordan had a standout tournament for Team USA, leading the team in rebounds and blocks. In eight games (three starts), he averaged 7.4 points on 71 percent shooting, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks.
