FRIDAY FIVE: DARREN COLLISON’S TOP PLAYS AS A STARTER
Since superstar Chris Paul went down with a separated shoulder on Jan. 3, the Clippers have gone 10-4 and closed to within 2.5 games of the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. They have done so with contributions from a variety of places, but perhaps none more important than fleet-footed point guard Darren Collison. He’s averaged 14.5 points on 52.2 percent shooting and 3.6 assists in that time. He’s scored 20 points or more three times and only failed to reach double figures once, all the while playing with a sprained left big toe.
With Paul nearing a return in the next couple of weeks, it seemed like no better time than to look back at the past 14 games Collison has started and choose his best five plays:
5. Jan. 30 at Golden State. Collison pushes the ball up the right side of the floor and goes around his back to get past Klay Thompson and finish with a layup at the rim.
