FRIDAY FIVE: BEST J.J. REDICK BASKETS IN THE FIRST QUARTER
The first quarter has been J.J. Redick’s most productive quarter of the season, by far. Forty-five percent of his made field goals have come in the first 12 minutes and he’s scored eight or more points five times in nine first quarters. He’s been exactly what the Clippers need to help space the floor and open the game up. Out of his 24 first-quarter baskets, here are his five best in the young season:
5. Nov. 7, 2013 at Heat: Runner, runner. While Redick is widely known as a fantastic shooter, he’s also an underrated ball-handler and creator. In Miami, ball movement from the Clippers spreads the athletic Heat defense out and as Dwyane Wade scrambles back to Redick at the right 3-point wing he gets left behind by Redick’s ball fake. Redick makes his way into the lane and flips it in over the outstretched arm of Chris Bosh.
