On Friday morning, Elgin Baylor, Mike Dunleavy and the rest of the Basketball Operations Dept. got a firsthand look at one of the top prospects in the 2004 Draft---Stanford's
Josh Childress. Childress is coming off a stellar junior season in which he led the Cardinal to a PAC-10 title, 17-1 record in conference and 30-2 overall record. He was rewarded for his efforts with nine different first-team All America awards and became the first player in Stanford's history to be named PAC-10 Player of the Year.
Childress was pitted against fellow PAC-10 standout
Desmon Farmer in the workout, which provided for an intense matchup. Both players have made a name for themselves as lethal shooters, and showed why in the early shooting drills. A quiet SC vs. Stanford rivalry might have fueled the competition, as Childress and Farmer had their shooting strokes going. Two big men rounded out the workout, San Diego State's Aerick Sanders and Poland's Zbigniew Bialek, as the Basketball Ops team ran numerous two-on-two situations after the shooting drills finished.
A busy weekend is ahead, but Clippers.com will forego afternoons on the beach to bring you the latest from the Clippers Draft camp. Workouts are schedule on both Saturday and Sunday, so be sure and check back for updates!
