Clippers Select Texas A&M Center DeAndre Jordan With the 35th Pick in the 2008 NBA Draft

The Los Angeles Clippers selected Texas A&M center DeAndre Jordan with the 35th overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft, held this evening at the WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A dominating inside presence for the Aggies during the 2007-08 season, Jordan averaged 7.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks during his freshman campaign. Jordan, 19, earned Big 12 All-Rookie Team honors and started 21 of 35 games. Jordan scored in double-figures 13 times and pulled down 10 or more rebounds six times.

The Houston, Texas native came to Texas A&M after a wildly successful high school career that saw him earn First Team All-Greater Houston honors by the Houston Chronicle during a senior year that saw him average 26.1 points, 15.2 rebounds and 8.1 blocked shots at Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, Texas
