Clippers Sign Davis

The Los Angeles Clippers today announced the signing of forward Paul Davis, their second round selection (34th overall) in the 2006 NBA Draft.

The 6’11” Davis averaged 13.2 points and 7.0 rebounds during his four-year career at Michigan State and left the school ranked eighth in points (1,718), fourth in rebounds (910) and blocked shots (87), while leaving East Lansing as the all-time leader in free throws made and attempted.

As a senior in 2005-06, Davis averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in earning All-Big Ten Second Team honors. Davis was named the Big Ten player of the Week three times as a senior in leading the Spartans to a 22-12 record.

Davis led Tom Izzo’s Spartans to the 2005 Final Four as a junior and earned Austin Regional All-Tournament honors after averaging 15.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in the first four games of the NCAA Tournament. Davis finished as the leading rebounder in the 2005 NCAA Tournament after grabbing a career-high 15 boards in the Spartans loss to eventual champion North Carolina.

As a sophomore in 2003-04, Davis was named First Team All-Big Ten after scoring in double figures 25 times. Davis earned All-South Regional Team honors in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman.
