Elton Brand has been relentless in the paint this season for Los Angeles

The Clippers’ Elton Brand has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, December 29 through Sunday, January 4. The Detroit Pistons' Ben Wallace took home the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors.
Brand helped lead the Clippers to victories over the Nuggets and Lakers during a four game homestand, with averages of 23.3 points on .569 shooting, 11.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.00 blocks per game.
The achievement is Brand's second Player of the Week award, as he was previously recognized for his impressive play during the week of 12/9/01. He joins Quentin Richardson as the second Clipper to be honored this season as well.
Here is a closer look at Brand's impressive week:
December 29 vs. Phoenix – Had 24 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, two rebounds and a steal as the Clippers lost to the Suns, 113-105.
December 31 vs. Denver – Had 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and a block as the Clippers defeated the Nuggets 120-104.
January 3 vs. Kings – Recorded 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks as the Clippers fell to Sacramento, 116-109.
January 4 vs. Lakers – Scored a season-high 30 points and added 15 rebounds, six assists and five blocks as the Clippers defeated the Lakers, 101-98.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, Miami’s Lamar Odom, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, New Jersey’s Jason Kidd, New Orleans’ P.J. Brown and Baron Davis, Phoenix’s Stephon Marbury, Sacramento’s Peja Stojakovic and Seattle’s Ray Allen.
