BABY BLUE JERSEYS MAKE ON-COURT DEBUT IN VEGAS

"Back in Blue" Alternative Jersey

LAS VEGAS – It was the perfect environment for the Clippers to debut their baby blue jerseys: the Las Vegas Strip.

Perhaps, no place in the United States has been as innovative as Las Vegas, which has become a year-round tourist attraction and entertainment destination despite its location in the heart of the Mojave Desert.

The same could be said of the Clippers’ new “Back in Blue” uniforms which harken the future of the NBA with their form-fitting, short-sleeved look, an innovation adidas introduced to the world last season in a regular season game between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs.

The Clippers unveiled their new adidas uniforms on Media Day nearly three weeks ago, but they after that they rested on equipment manager Pete Serrano’s shelves until Saturday night.

The blend of Clippers history, the nautical flags on the piping of the shorts and light blue hue along with the modern “Los Angeles” script are a few of the jerseys highlights. But for Chris Paul, perhaps, the best part was that the team is undefeated in them after a thrilling 118-111 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets.

“They were cool,” Paul said of the uniforms. “And we’re 1-0 in them so let’s wear them every night.”

They are slated to wear the uniforms upwards of eight times during the season, including Sunday home games.
