Las Vegas, July 15 -- In the 55th and final game of the 2007 NBA Summer League, the Sacramento Kings downed the Los Angeles Clippers, 82-60, at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Kings trailed by four points at the half but opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run and eventually outscored the Clippers 20-14 in the period and 48-22 in the second half.
Kings’ rookie Spencer Hawes, who was named to the 2007 NBA Summer League First Team, netted a game-high 22 points (10-18 FG) and grabbed five rebounds in 31 minutes. The center averaged 16.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 33.2 minutes in five games.
Ron Artest, saw his first action of the summer. He scored two points and grabbed two rebounds in five minutes of work.
Meanwhile, Clippers’ rookie Al Thornton, also a member of the First Team, recorded a team-high 17 points in 31 minutes. This summer, Thornton averaged 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 29.0 minutes in five games.
Sacramento ended the summer league 3-2, while the Clippers finished 2-3.
