Brand's play this season has been a huge reason why the Clippers continue to improve
|
Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand has been named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week, for the forward's performances in games played Monday, December 3 through Sunday, December 9.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Andre Miller was honored as the league's pick for Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Brand also becomes the first Clipper to be named Player of the Week since Loy Vaught was tabbed in February of 1997. He joins Vaught, Ron Harper (twice), Danny Manning, Derek Smith (three times), and Swen Nater as the franchise's other Player of the Week honorees.
Here's a look at Brand's week:
Tuesday vs. Miami: Scored game-high 23 points and had 17 rebounds in
87-83 win over the Heat.
Friday vs. Utah: Tallied 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and hit 13 of 16 free throws in a loss to Utah.
Sunday vs. Charlotte: Had game-highs of 22 points and 19 rebounds
while adding three blocks in 89-78 win over the Hornets.
Brand has also been key in leading the Clippers to their best start after 20 games (10-10), since the 1992-93 season.
