CLIPPERS - MAVERICKS NOTES
- The Clippers won their first game of 2008-09 on Nov. 9 when they defeated the
Mavericks 103-92....The win snapped a six-game losing streak to the Mavericks,
as the last Clips win over Dallas was on Nov. 8, 2006 in a 103-85 win at STAPLES
Center.
- The Clippers are 3-11 in their last 14 contests against the Mavericks, last winning
a season series in 2004-05, when they won the series 2-1.
- CONNECTIONS: Clippers forward Brian Skinner is from Texas and attended Baylor
University.
- In their most recent match-up on Dec. 28, Josh Howard had 29 points, nine rebounds
and a career-best seven assists, leading Dallas to a 98-76 victory while Dirk
Nowitzki served a one-game suspension...the Mavericks held a 53-38 advantage on
the glass...Five of their players had eight or more rebounds, including Erick Dampier,
point guard Jason Kidd, James Singleton and reserve Brandon Bass...Singleton, who
spent his first two seasons with the Clippers, started in Nowitzki's place and got 11
points and eight rebounds in 24 1/2 minutes...On Dec. 28, the Clippers played without
their leading scorer and rebounder as Zach Randolph, who bruised his left knee
during last Monday's 97-75 loss to Toronto, was sidelined along with center Chris
Kaman (left arch), reserve guard Ricky Davis (left knee) and rookie guard Mike Taylor
(broken right thumb)....Marcus Camby had 16 points and 12 rebounds... Al Thornton
also had 16 points...For the third straight game, Los Angeles never held a lead.
- In the second game between the Clips-Mavs on Dec. 2, 2008, Dallas used a
Jose Barea go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute as the Mavericks rallied from a 15-
point deficit for a 100-98 win...Barea capped Dallas' closing 18-4 run with a long-range
jumper with 50.2 seconds left that gave Dallas its only lead of the game...The Clippers
shot 51 percent through three quarters...Los Angeles had a chance to win the game
in the waning seconds, but Baron Davis missed a 3-pointer with just over a second left
and Dirk Nowitzki grabbed the rebound as time expired...Nowitzki scored 29 points,
Terry added 26 and Brandon Bass chipped in with 14 for the Mavericks... Zach Randolph
had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Al Thornton had 23 points and Davis added 22
points for the Clippers, who didn't score in the final 2:55.
- Clippers guard Baron Davis averaged 25.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists
in the 2006-07 Playoffs as he led the Warriors to an upset of #1 seed Mavericks
in the first round, one of the biggest upsets in NBA history.
- Baron Davis scored 34 points and hit the game-winning shot with 0.5 seconds remaining
in a 111-109 win over Dallas on Dec. 30, 2005.
- Clippers center Paul Davis scored his first career NBA points against Dallas in his
second-ever NBA game on Nov. 8, 2006...Paul Davis suffered a torn anterior cruciate
ligament and torn lateral meniscus in his right knee in Dallas vs. the Mavs on Dec. 21,
2007.
- Dallas center Erick Dampier equaled an NBA record when swatted eight Clipper
shots all in the second quarter on March 12, 1990.
- Clippers guard Jason Hart swiped a career-high five steals April 9, 2007 against Dallas...
Clippers center Chris Kaman registered a career-high 11 field goals Dec. 21,
2007 at Dallas...Kaman registered 24 points and 19 rebounds in that game.
- While with the New York Knicks, Clippers forward Zach Randolph averaged 22.5 ppg,
12.5 rpg and shot over 52% in two games last season versus the Mavericks. This
season, while still with the Knicks, Z-Bo had 27 points, 18 rebounds and shot 50% from
the field versus Dallas.
CLIPPERS MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
- The Clippers lost their seventh straight game when they fell to Detroit on Jan. 4...It is the longest losing streak of the season for the Clippers, and the longest losing
streak since they lost seven games from April 3 - April 16, 2008...Last season, the Clippers had three losing streaks of seven games or more, with the longest being a
10-game winless stretch from March 12 - March 28.
- The Clippers lost 88-87 to the Pistons on Jan. 4...Los Angeles is now 0-14 when scoring below 90 points in 2008-09.
- GORDON GOES OFF: Despite the Clippers 88-87 loss to Detroit on Jan. 4, L.A. rookie guard Eric Gordon enjoyed a career-game, exploding for a career-high 31 points
(9-21 FG) while also going 12-of-12 from the foul line...It was the first 30+ point effort of his career by Gordon and the seventh time this season a member of the Clippers
has hit for 30+...Gordon’s 31 points was the most points scored by a Clippers rookie since Al Thornton tied the Clips rookie record with 39 points last season on
March 29, 2008 vs. Memphis...Gordon’s 12 foul shots was the most made by any Clippers player this season.

- GORDON CATCHING FIRE: Eric Gordon has reached double-figures in scoring in six straight games and 11 of his last 12 games...In the Clippers last four contests,
Gordon is averaging 24.3 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting a sparkling 49 percent from the field (32-of-65); 44 percent from three-point land (8-
of-18) and a whopping 96 percent from the foul line (25-of-26).
- Clippers rookie guard Eric Gordon has scored 20+ points in his NBA career seven times and now has had four straight games with 20+ points after scoring 31 points
on Jan. 4 vs. Detroit....The Clippers are 1-6 in those games....Of those six games, six of them have been back-to-back....The Clippers are 3-8 in 2008-09 when Gordon
scored 15+ points.
- The Clippers are currently shooting .423 from the field, and have not shot 50 percent from the field yet in 2008-09...The Clippers have failed to hit 50 percent
from the field in any of their games. Last season, it took the Clippers 32 games to shoot 50 percent from the field in a game as they became one of only three teams
in the last decade - the 2004-05 New Orleans Hornets (41) and the 2003-04 Washington Wizards to have longer such streaks.
- JONES WAIVED: The Clippers waived guard Fred Jones on Jan. 5, just a day after Jones made his first start as a member of the Clippers vs. the Pistons...Jones
played just 2:37 and collected one assist before leaving with a right mid-foot sprain....In eight games with the Clippers, Jones averaged 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and
1.4 assists in 19.6 minutes.

- DAVIS SERVES SUSPENSION: Clippers forward Ricky Davis served the first game of his five-game NBA suspension on Jan. 4 vs. Detroit. The NBA announced the suspension on Dec. 29. Ricky Davis is suspended without pay for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
- HIGH-LIGHTS: In addition to Eric Gordon enjoying a career-game Jan. 4 vs. the Pistons, Clippers guard Mardy Collins dished off for a career-high 12 assists in
42:11...It was the highest assists total by a Clippers player this season, equaling the 12 Baron Davis had on Dec. 17 vs. Chicago...Clippers center DeAndre Jordan
scored a career-high nine points Jan. 4 vs. the Pistons...Clippers forward Steve Novak played a season-high 29:28 Jan. 4 vs. the Pistons and also scored a seasonhigh
15 points, going 5-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point line.
- The Clippers-Pistons game on Jan. 4 featured a season-high 21 lead changes...The Clippers 12 third quarter points Jan. 4 vs. Detroit equaled a season-low for points
in a quarter, although the Pistons also scored a Clippers opponent season-low 15 points in the third quarter...The Clippers attempted a season low one three-pointer
in the second half on Jan. 4...The Clippers had a season-low four assists in the second half Jan. 4 vs. Detroit.
- CLOSE ONES: The Clippers dropped another close game on Jan. 4 vs. Detroit, falling 88-87...The Clippers are now 1-7 this season in games that have been decided
by five points or fewer, with the lone L.A. win coming on Nov. 29 in a 97-96 win over Miami...The Clippers have now lost a total of seven games by a combined

- In the last four games, Clippers center Marcus Camby has been amazing, averaging 21.0 rebounds in the four contests. Camby has grabbed 20+ boards in three

- AMAZING MARCUS: Marcus Camby established a carer-high with 27 rebounds Dec. 17 vs. Chicago...Camby kept his double-digit rebounding streak alive with
his 20th straight double-digit rebounding game on Jan. 4 vs. Detroit with 20 rebounds...Marcus Camby has 33 20+ rebounding games in his career.
- OFF THE BENCH: For the 5th time this season, the Clippers bench outscored their opponent when they had 26 points while the Pistons bench put in 20 on on Jan.

- Clippers point guard Baron Davis missed his third game of the season on Jan. 4 with a bruised tailbone....In his prevous four games before the injury, Davis was shooting
26 percent (16-of-61) from the field and 11.9 points per game.
