Erick Green, PG/SG, Virginia Tech
The 22-year-old senior is a scoring point guard who projects as a combo guard in the NBA. He led the nation, scoring 25 points per game. He also averaged four rebounds and 3.8 assists last season. In his last three seasons at Virginia Tech, Green improved his 3-point shooting from 24.8 percent his sophomore year to 38.9 percent in his final year in Blacksburg. He likes to shoot from the perimeter and off the dribble but is not proficient as a slasher. Still, he averaged more than eight free throw attempts last season. He has a wiry frame, near 6-foot-6 wingspan and possesses an array of floaters and pull-ups. NBA Draft.net said that Virginia Tech coach James Johnson was pleased with Green’s work ethic and decision-making. Most mock drafts place Green near the bottom of the first round or top of the second round.
Matt Kamalsky of Draft Express wrote, “Standing 6-foot-3 with a thin, wiry frame and near 6-foot-7 wingspan, Green is a natural scorer who can put points on the board in bunches with his pull-up jump shot and ability to get to the free throw line, but has also shown improvement as a distributor this season, particularly in the pick and roll.”
