Amath M’Baye, SF, Oklahoma
M’Baye (prounounced M'By) is a 23-year-old junior from the University of Oklahoma. He was born in Senegal, holds a French passport and attended Stone Ridge Prep in Simi Valley, CA. He transferred from Wyoming after two seasons and after sitting out the 2011-12 seasons, averaged 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds and shot 46.1 percent from the field in his only year in Norman. He finished third-team All-Big 12 and was a member of the Big 12 All-Academic First Team. He is a lanky, athletic wing player who is expected to play small forward in the NBA. He is a leaper, serviceable ball-handler and can defend and rebound although he is still considered a raw talent. Most mock drafts project M’Baye to go undrafted.
“He has a knack for scoring the basketball, both inside and out, though he is certainly growing his perimeter game quite rapidly for a player of his size,” NBA-Draft.com’s scouting report read. “But he is not afraid to mix-it-up inside with a unique combination of quickness, athleticism and touch.”
