Hey Clipper Nation! My name is Melissa, and this is going to be my first season on the Spirit Dance Team! Dancing became my passion when I was a little girl, and ever since then I knew that I wanted to pursue it even further. Growing up, my dad was in the military, so I moved from city to city eventually settling in my hometown of Oceanside, California.
Currently, I am a 21 year old college senior who is looking forward to graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies. With this, I want to become an elementary school teacher and help future generations succeed through education.
In addition to being part of the Spirit, I also work as a performer for Disney. For the past two years I have been performing in the parades and have been given amazing opportunities like dancing for the Disney Channel star, Hannah Montana. Besides my love for dance, I absolutely love chocolate chip cookies. I also like to read, relax at the beach and hang out with my friends and family, especially my grandma who has been my hero for the longest time. She has overcome obstacles with such ease and has proven to be so strong and proud. Thanks grandma for being such an inspiration to me!
It’s so rewarding to be a part of a team filled with such talent and personality. I am very grateful for being given this opportunity and look forward to every minute of it. I have already learned so much by being part of the Spirit and have gained lasting friendships. What it means to me, to be part of the Spirit, is to be confident, compassionate towards the community, and most importantly being a fan of the Los Angeles Clippers!
