Polynice Visits Children’s Institute International

On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003, the Clippers held a Reading Time-Out as part of the teams season-long Read To Achieve program. Olden Polynice, a 14-year NBA veteran, visited Children’s Institute International in Los Angeles and read to children. Children received Read To Achieve t-shirts, as well as Clippers Read To Achieve bookmarks and books, courtesy of Scholastic.

Children's Institute International (CII) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and strengthening the family through the provision of child abuse prevention and treatment services for high-need, low-resource families, as well as through professional training, research, and advocacy.

Read To Achieve is a program designed to promote the value of reading and online literacy, as well as encourage families and adults to read regularly with young children. One of the goals of this year-long Read To Achieve program is to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books and technology.
