Training Camp Q & A: Shaun Livingston

With 2006 Training Camp under way, Clippers.com wants to give the members of Clipper Nation a chance to ask the players and coaches whatever is on your mind.

Next up: Clippers Guard Shaun Livingston.

Michael Schafer: Shaun, towards the end of last season you began to trust midrange jump shot a little more. I believe that when you really develop that to go along with your great defense and court vision, you'll be one of the best players in the league. Have you worked on that a lot this summer to elevate your game to the top?

Shaun Livingston: I have definitely worked on that shot over the summer. It’s one of my key contributions on offense when I knock down the jumper, especially at the midrange which is a deadly spot, so that I can make myself an offensive threat.

Ryan Yonai: Hi Shaun. How will the playoff experience last season have impact on you this coming season?

Shaun Livingston: The playoffs definitely give you experience and help build on your confidence. It helps for the next season because you know what to expect.

Adam Benner: Shaun, you have so much potential. What did you do this offseason as far as training and what things did you concentrate on?

Shaun Livingston: I mainly concentrated on my body. I wanted to get stronger and put on a little bit of weight. I tried to work on my body mass, my agility and my explosiveness and the jump shot part of my game.

Bobby Skrabal: What are you expecting from yourself this season and what are you expecting from the team? How much are you looking to improve this season from last season?

Shaun Livingston: I expect myself to come in and be a major contributor to the team, both offensively and defensively. I want to come in and play the majority of my minutes at the guard spot and help pick my teammates up.

As for the team, we expect to get back to the playoffs, but all of us want to go further. We had a chance to go further last season and we definitely want to excel on that this year.

As for last season to this season, the biggest change is chemistry. We have to get the new guys used to playing with each other, to go out and execute and play defense.

Brandon Hatley: Now that you guys are a playoff tested team that brings back most of the same players, will the rolls change this year to try to bring the team to the next level? Or will it be the same formula just better execution? Possibly both? Thank you for your time and good luck, and stay healthy!

Shaun Livingston: I think it will be the same formula with better execution and better improvement. There will be more improvement by us younger guys and the younger nucleus rather than from some of the older guys on the team.
