Training Camp Q & A: Yaroslav Korolev

With 2006 Training Camp under way, Clippers.com wants to give the members of Clipper Nation a chance to ask the players and coaches whatever is on your mind.

First up: Clippers forward Yaroslav Korolev.

Ndooboo Chancellor: What are you going to make sure to show the team on their trip to Russia? How do you think the Russian people will react to Chris Kaman?

Yaroslav Korolev: I will first show the team a good restaurant where they can eat good Russian food so they can really taste it. I hope they'll like it!

As for Chris Kaman, he looks a little like he could be Russian, so I think people will like him; but not after he beats up on CSKA Moscow.

David Zavala: What nickname do the guys call you?

Yaroslav Korolev: My teammates call my Yarik.

Q. Duong: Are you excited about playing in front of your home crowd? Also, do you prefer playing the point forward or the small forward position?

Yaroslav Korolev: I am really excited to play in front of my home town. The fans I think will help me and I think it's going to be great.

To answer your second question, I prefer to play at the small forward position.

Christian Vielman: Do you feel you learned a lot your first season with the team? If so, from what have you taken in and what have you worked on as a result this summer?

Yaroslav Korolev: Last season I got used to American life and got much closer to the players and coaches. I learned how to be much better at the point and I learned what I need to do to help my teammates.

This summer I played with my National team - we qualified for the European Championship next year. I was playing basically the whole summer and didn't rest. During the summer I also gained about 15 pounds.
