Clippers Guard
Quentin Richardson has certainly made a name for himself in 2003-04. After three solid years as a reserve, "Q" has flourished this season as a starter, tallying career high averages in scoring, rebounding and assists. He's also on pace to shatter the Clippers franchise record for 3PT FGs made in a season and dropped 44 points on Denver earlier this year to become the first Clipper to score 40+ points in a game since Dominique Wilkins did it back in 1994.
Jason (Santa Monica): Hey Q... what has been the favorite dunk of your career?
Quentin Richardson: Man. I forget them all. I had one earlier this year that was pretty good, but I forget who it was on.
Desmond (Steel Town): What age did you start playing basketball? What got you in to it?
Quentin Richardson: I started playing basketball from as long as I can remember. My Mom got me into it and all my brothers played.
Kevin Layton, UT: How is it playing for Mike Dunleavy Sr.?
Quentin Richardson: It's a lot of fun. I like playing for Coach. He's given me my first real opportunity to be a big contributor in the NBA.
Joseph Lau (UCLA, Los Angeles): Can you please tell us about your new movie "The Youngest Guns"?
What are the chances of you and Darius Miles playing together on the Clippers again?
Quentin Richardson: It's a documentary on us two, from when we got drafted to when we played here. It goes pretty in-depth and includes his being traded. As far as us playing together again, I don't really know. That depends on free agency and trades and things like that.
Mike: What is your favorite throwback jersey in any sport?
Quentin Richardson: Gimme the Michael Jordan jersey. It don't matter which one.
Marc (Redding, CT): Q, who is your favorite player to go 1 on 1 with?
Quentin Richardson: Probably Kobe. Right now he is probably the top guy in my position.
John (Brentwood): Q, who's in your NCAA Final Four this year?
Quentin Richardson: In college? Right now, I like Stanford, UConn and then...Hmmmm....I like Gonzaga and Duke.
Szekesfehervar: Hi Quentin! I'm Zoltan from Hungary. I have a single question: Your jersey's number is 3. Why? Thanx.
Quentin Richardson: When I got to college my favorite player in the league were Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Stephon Marbury and Allen Iverson, so I took No. 3.
mark (Pittsburg): W'sup Q! I think u r the sickest small forward in the league. How do u get mentally prepared for a game??
Quentin Richardson: I just go out and think about having fun and playing well against whoever I'm facing that night. If we can all do that, we can pick up the win.
Nadia (Pembroke Pines): Q, I am a huge fan of yours what was your reaction last night when DePaul upset Cincy last night? Keep up the good work!!!! Go CLIPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quentin Richardson: I was glad to see my alma mater knock those guys out.
J (Anaheim): Growing up, which basketball player did you look up to and who do you model your game after?
Quentin Richardson: I didn't model my game after anybody, but Michael Jordan was my idol growing up. But I don't model my game after anybody; I just go out and be myself.
Tony from Camarillo: Q, you have blossomed into one of the better shooting guards this year. How do you feel about signing on with the Clippers for another 4-5 years to retain the explosive trio of Brand, Maggette, and yourself?
Quentin Richardson: I definitely want to be a Clipper. If it's up to me, the Clippers are my first choice. But from there, once I reach free agency, it isn't just up to me, and I have to see what happens from there.
Q, Los Angeles: Q, you're a fan favorite---do you hear all the fans calling your name? Does it help you play better and fire you up?
Quentin Richardson: It always feels good to get cheered on by the fans. It gives you a good energy to feed off of.
Bill Anaheim: What's your favorite album right now?
Quentin Richardson: Twister, Kamikaze.
Adeel (NYC): Who is the best defender who has ever played you? Payton? Artest? Kidd?
Quentin Richardson: Probably Artest or Kirilenko.
Jim (LA): Hey Q,
What do you think you need to improve on and who do you compare yourself to?
Quentin Richardson: Everything. That's how you become a better player. The biggest thing is probably becoming a more solid defender.
Mike (Costa Mesa): What has been your favorite aspect of this Clippers season compared to last season? You have been exciting to watch this year and I look forward to you hopefully resigning with the team.
Quentin Richardson: I think I'm just having more fun. We're playing more as a team, we don't have guys worrying about contracts and stuff. We're just going out there and playing and trying to get wins.
Bill : What's your favorite ride that you own?
Quentin Richardson: Mercedes Benz CL 55.
Eelke, Rotterdam: Hey, who is your favorite coach you've played for?
Quentin Richardson: That would go back to grade school. My grade school coach Gary Adams.
will , santa monica: Hi Q! What's your greatest personal NBA memory? Keep hittin those threes!
Quentin Richardson: Just getting a chance to go up against Michael Jordan before he retired the second time.
Daryl Jackson - Clarks Summit, PA: Quentin, what do you think it will take to make the Clippers an NBA title contender?
Quentin Richardson: Just getting the right pieces in place and keeping us together and building on that. That's what other good teams do, they get the guys together, let them gel and then add a few other pieces and let them go after it.
Quentin Richardson: Thanks for your support and keep watching us and supporting us.
