Celtics Sign Free Agent Brian Scalabrine
The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has signed Brian Scalabrine to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Scalabrine, a 6-9 forward, played the first four seasons of his career with the New Jersey Nets. In 2004-05 he appeared in 54 contests, including 14 starts, averaging 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game. He scored a career-high 29 points in the Nets 113-99 win at Golden State January 26, 2005.
The 35th overall selection in the 2001 NBA Draft out of the University of Southern California has career averages of 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He’s appeared in 22 playoff games, with his best playoff appearance in 2003-04 when he averaged 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game as the Nets reached the Eastern Conference Finals. Scalabrine was a member of the Nets in 2002 and 2003 when the team reached the NBA Finals.
