Celtics 102, Knicks 96 - January 7, 2013
The Celtics, playing without All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, outshined the rival Knicks Monday night in an entertaining 102-96 victory in Madison Square Garden. Paul Pierce hit a critical jumper in the final minute to help seal the win, and Boston limited MVP-candidate Carmelo Anthony to just 20 points on 6-of-26 shooting.
Kevin Garnett had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and was perfect from the free-throw line (7-for-7), including crucial free throws in the final 30 seconds. Pierce led the Celtics with a team-high 23 points, while Jeff Green scored 16 points and grabbed six boards off of the bench. The Celtics have now won three straight.
