2013 Annual Partner Summit
The 2013 Celtics Partner Summit was held on June 21 at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, R.I. Guests of the Summit were welcomed with an exclusive traditional New England clam bake on the water.
The eighth-annual event began with a few words from Celtics Managing Partner, Governor and CEO Wyc Grousbeck, followed by the Team President’s Address from Rich Gotham. Senior VP of Corporate Partnerships and Business Development, Ted Dalton, also gave an update on the evolvement of the Celtics’ business and what to look for in the upcoming season.
The afternoon session consisted of three panel discussions. The first was titled Get a Grip: Analyzing Big Data; followed by Inside Celtics Basketball; and then Content: If You Build It, They Will Come.
The Big Data panel was hosted by Valerie Camillo, VP of Team Marketing and Business Operations for the NBA. The panel featured Senior Manager of Business Intelligence for Delivery Agent, Chris Drake; Senior Account Director for Scarborough Research, Darren Hayden; and Celtics Assistant General Manager and Team Counsel, Mike Zarren. Panelists discussed how to analyze information to help improve customer relationships and run your business more efficiently.
The next panel gave attendees a look Inside Celtics Basketball, reflecting on the 2012-13 season and highlighting the upcoming draft in which the team held the 16th pick. The dialogue was carried by Mike Gorman, who is Comcast SportsNet New England’s play-by-play announcer for Celtics games. Panelists included Celtics Managing Partner & Alternate Governor, Steve Pagliuca; Assistant General Manager, Mike Zarren; and Team President, Rich Gotham.
After a quick Tostitos Chip and Salsa break, the final panel gathered on stage with moderator Eran Lobel, CEO/Executive Producer for Element Productions, to discuss content creation, partner integration, and distribution platforms. Panelists included Greg Angland, Media Director for Norbella; Bill Bridgen, General Manager and Executive VP for Comcast SportsNet; Gabe Smallman, President of Adept Mobile; and Todd Wallace, Senior Marketing Manager for Dunkin’ Donuts, Inc.
To wrap up the afternoon, Celtics forward Jared Sullinger gave the closing remarks. With note in hand, Sullinger made a point to call out a few of his favorite sponsor community events, including Read to Achieve, presented by Kia, and the TD Bank Music Clubhouse. As guests departed, they were given a Spinner Boarding Bag courtesy of Samsonite with a customized Celtics luggage tag attached.
