Celtics Radio Partner WEEI Expands to 93.7FM
BOSTON – This morning on the Dennis and Callahan show, WEEI announced it would expand to 93.7FM and begin simulcasting on Monday, September 12. “This coming Monday morning, September 12th, something very exciting will take place. I'm very happy to tell you WEEI Sports Radio will begin simulcasting on 93.7FM,” morning host John Dennis told the audience just after 8 AM this morning. This is a great day for the radio station and ALSO for our loyal listeners. This is what our audience wanted...asked for, and we’re happy to deliver.”
“This is an extremely exciting day for our brand, our clients, and most importantly our listeners. It has always been our goal to deliver the most compelling and entertaining brand of sports talk to Boston, and I’m thrilled that we can now present that brand in crystal clear FM,” said WEEI VP of Programming Jason Wolfe. “20 years ago, WEEI was a single radio station. Today, WEEI broadcasts across the largest regional radio network in New England, with the most complete lineup of content in sports radio today. Plus Red Sox radio on FM! Boston sports fans will love listening to Red Sox play-by-play in crystal clear FM as they drive toward another playoff run.”
Moving to 93.7FM significantly increases WEEI’s reach. WEEI’s FM signal will cover many areas where 850AM is spotty, especially at night. The station will now be heard without interruption in Southern New Hampshire, Merrimack Valley, and most importantly in MetroWest and into Worcester (Middlesex, Hillsborough, Worcester counties).
“Expanding to FM is a logical next step that prepares WEEI for the future. Our goal is to grow our audience and continue our track record of advertiser results,” said Jeff Brown, Vice President and General Manager/Entercom Boston. “Our research clearly shows expanding WEEI to FM will bring in a wider and more complete audience. 35-54’s will spend more time with us on FM, and younger demos will make WEEI part of their consideration set.”
