Re: Boston's effort:
"I thought the whole game, we played hard. I thought the first six minutes, we fumbled the ball around and that led to a lot of points for them in transition, but it wasn‘t out of effort. I thought we were ready emotionally to compete. So, that‘s a positive. We‘ve got to build on it. We‘ve got to do it again and again and again."
Re: Full-court press to end the game:
"Well, we went small. They‘re playing with nothing to gain and we‘re playing with everything to gain. So, it‘s a little bit [of a] Catch-22. It‘s a lot easier to play when you‘re behind in that moment, than when you‘re ahead. But, I thought we were very aggressive. I thought we had a quick lineup on the court. It helped that [Darren] Collison fouled out with 57 seconds, or so. That actually made me feel like we had a shot because that was one less ball handler for them."
Re: Positives from the loss:
"I told them in the locker room [that] I can live with that focused effort. Obviously, to come in here and win, you‘re going to have to make more than 5 of 17 from three, you‘re going to have to not turn the ball over 18 times, you‘re going to have to do a few more little things. But, we got into a defensive rhythm in the third quarter that I haven‘t seen us get into very often, and hopefully we can build off that."/>/>
Re: Fighting back from a large deficit:
"I mean, it takes a lot of energy, but that‘s what we had to do. We dug ourselves in a hole. It was our fault that we were down, so we wanted to fight and get back in the game."
Re: Boston's mindset entering the game:
"We wanted to play good. We started getting some momentum. We wanted to win of course, but definitely wanted to play good and get back to playing team basketball and try to fight."
Re: The Celtics' effort and intensity:
"For parts of the game [we showed the necessary effort]. We‘ve got to do it the whole game to beat teams like this. We‘ve got to stop turning the ball over. Myself, I made a lot of crucial turnovers, so we‘ve got to better in that area."/>/>
Re: The Flagrant 1 called against him:
"Ref called a flagrant, so it was a flagrant. I can‘t say anything else, honestly. I pulled back; I didn‘t even try to hit him. But, it was called a flagrant, so we‘ve got to go with what the ref called."
Re: Coming off of the bench:
"Yeah, he [Brad Stevens] said he wants to make a change, and he wanted me to come off the bench. I‘m all for the team, so I didn‘t really have a problem with it. Hump [Kris Humphries] played his butt off today. So, you‘ve got to commend him."
Re: The Clippers' big men:
"Honestly, DeAndre [Jordan]‘s a tough cover just because he can play off of so many people, and he‘s so athletic. And once they throw it 14-15 feet in the air, you‘re dead. And that‘s the thing that makes him so tough, the way he screens and moves. Blake [Griffin]; he has a lot of moves that we didn‘t defend very well, particularly myself. We‘ve just got to look forward to the game on Friday against Golden State."/>/>
Re: The C's effort:
"We fought to the end and that‘s all we can ask for. We‘ve just got to make a few more plays, a few more defensive stops to put ourselves in a position to win the game."
Re: LA's wing players:
"Jared [Dudley] played tremendous today. He was hot from the three-point line. They all shot the ball well, didn‘t hesitate. I mean it‘s tough to defend the inside and out when you have Blake [Griffin] and DeAndre [Jordan] and then you got shooters on the outside. So, they did what they had to do."
Re: Full-court press to end the game:
"I just think that we were in desperation and that we needed to get stops and force stops."/>/>
Re: The game:
"I thought the first quarter we were really good, then I thought we played in spurts. It just felt like every point we had a 12 point lead we kind of relaxed, gave it up, did it again, and that‘s how the game felt like. You know, give them credit. They‘ve been struggling. We had a chance early to get a knock out, we didn‘t. When you give a team (because I‘ve been in a situation like that) life, then it‘s desperation for them, and you can see that in the way they were playing. They almost pulled it out."
Re: Expectations for Blake Griffin:
"Just for Blake [Griffin] to be Blake [Griffin]. He doesn‘t need to change at all. Blake [Griffin]‘s been great, we‘ve just got to make sure we get him the ball in the right spots, but we haven‘t changed much. We threw it to Blake [Griffin] at the elbows a little bit more because he‘s such a great passer, and at times, it‘s really nice when your big is your facilitator because there‘s no other help guy. But other than that, I don‘t want anybody to do anything different. I want them to be better defensively as a group."
Re: The pressure of playing without Chris Paul:
"It really falls on everyone. It‘s not one guy. I thought in the San Antonio game we were leaning on one guy—we wanted Darren Collison to run the offense. That‘s not going to happen. I think we‘ve adjusted pretty well to that and then when we get J.J. [Redick] back, I think it will help us a little bit more."/>/>
Re: The game:
"I think we executed our offense extremely well. You know, catching the ball off a pick-and-roll, if you notice, DJ [DeAndre Jordan] is diving hard and that creates so much attention inside that you know, you can kind of pick and choose guys on the perimeter and with [Jared] Dudley shooting the ball the way he is, Jamal [Crawford] has been shooting well, DC [Darren Collison] shot well, and was really on fire that first game on Monday. So other than guys making shots, I think it‘s our execution offensively without the ball."
Re: Moving up in the standings:
"Even at this point in the year, battling for standings, it looks like it‘s going to be such a tight race for a lot of teams going down the stretch. So every win counts obviously... It‘s great to get a win like this, especially at home and especially before we go on a long road trip. You know, these next two games are very important for us and especially with CP [Chris Paul] out. You know, in the games that we can win and keep that standing and still be in a good position, it‘s great because you know it‘s obvious we miss what he brings to the table."
Re: His big dunk:
"I thought that was a good read by Jamal [Crawford]; it was good timing. Every time something like that happens, it‘s always the situation that it creates; a type of play like that. Getting the ball at the right time, Jamal [Crawford] finding me, DJ [DeAndre Jordan] is in the right spot to make Kris Humphries be a little bit late on that. It‘s really our execution."/>/>
Re: LA's go-to option:
"Obviously, Blake [Griffin] is our guy, we go to him. When they start doubling, triple teaming him, it opens up shots to everybody. The frustrating part is, I guess sometimes, you work on shots all the time and they go in and out; but you have to stay aggressive. Your teammates and coaching staff believe in you, so stay aggressive."
Re: Griffin's maturation:
"He has been unbelievable honestly. I think right from the start coming in, him and DeAndre [Jordan] have accepted the responsibility. I think, those guys being part of the big three have given them a lot of leader qualities and they step up to the challenge. I think he is so unselfish to be a super star. You know Blake [Griffin] is as cool as you‘ll find. It‘s really cool to be on his team and to watch him in these two years and see the growth he‘s made."/>
Re: Getting open shots:
"Well it‘s hard to guard us like that, you‘ve got these two bigs, Blake [Griffin] and DJ [DeAndre Jordan], so athletic running and then after that, you kind of lose the sight of the three-point shot."
Re: Playing without Chris Paul:
"I think we kind of figured this out as we play; a lot of guys scoring double figures, we have to run a transition more, we have to attack a little bit more. CP [Chris Paul] kind of has the ball in his hands a lot, he‘s the quarterback. When he‘s not there, you know we kind of do more spread formation where you get the ball to Blake [Griffin] down low, let him dominate, get out in transition, let Jamal [Crawford] so we can kind of pick and choose our shots better."/>
