Boston inks free-agent center to contract

Celtics Sign Sundov

BOSTON, July 19 -- The Boston Celtics announced Friday that they signed free-agent center Bruno Sundov to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sundov, a 22-year old native of Croatia, is entering his fifth year in the NBA. Selected by Dallas in the second round (35th overall) of the 1998 NBA Draft, Sundov spent his first two seasons with Dallas, playing in 17 games.

The 7-2, 246-pound center was traded from Dallas to Utah in a four-team deal on Aug. 16, 2000, and was subsequently waived by the Jazz on Sept. 21, 2000. Signed by the Pacers as a free agent on Sept. 30, 2000, he recorded career-highs of 17 points and 9 rebounds in 2000-01.

Born in Split, Croatia, Sundov attended Winchendon Academy in Massachusetts before he became the youngest player to take the court in Mavericks team history at age 19 on April 21, 1999.
