TD Garden Renovation Phase 1 Complete

Boston, MA (October 8, 2014) – After a long summer of demolition, construction and renovation, Delaware North Companies, owner and operator of TD Garden, is proud to announce Phase I of the privately financed $70 million renovation project at TD Garden is complete in time for the Bruins home opener today.
This comprehensive, $70 million arena-wide upgrade led by Charlie Jacobs, principal of Delaware North Companies and the Boston Bruins, touches every aspect of the TD Garden fan experience, and features re-designed modern concourses and new concession offerings, comprehensive renovation of Legends restaurant, the development of a new ProShop, and an upgraded technology infrastructure and state-of-the-art solutions from Cisco to support digital fan expectations well into the future.

CONCOURSE & CONCESSIONS
The TD Garden level 4 loge concourse received a complete floor-to-ceiling refurbishment and redesign. The concourse design was led by Rossetti Architects, a renowned sports and hospitality architecture firm. Rossetti was able to infuse the rich history of the City of Boston, the Bruins and the Celtics with modern technology that activates fan engagement physically and digitally and that brings sponsorship activation to life. Shawmut Design and Construction is the general contractor for the concourse, concessions and Legends projects.

Delaware North’s sports hospitality division, Sportservice, which operates the arena’s food, beverage and retail services, will debut eight new concession stands today. Fans will enjoy a wide-variety of food and drink and recognize some local favorites and flavors including:

  • Big Bad Burger – Signature juicy burgers drizzled with Gooey Sauce; optional double, triple or quadruple patties.
  • Boston Common – Local fresh seafood menu including fried clams, lobster roll, lobster bisque and clam chowder.
  • Garden Grill – Classic Boston sandwich menu that includes shaved steak roll with housemade cheese sauce and fan favorite grilled chicken sandwich.
  • The North End Butcher – Kayem meats including an Italian sausage with peppers and onions and jumbo all-beef gourmet hotdogs.
  • Sal’s Pizza – A local favorite serving cheesy pizza slices, arichini balls and meatballs smothered in classic marinara.
  • Lucky’s Chicken – Named for the Celtics mascot, the stand features chicken with signature seasonings.
  • Taqueria – Must have tacos with a choice of grilled steak, chipotle lime chicken, or charred vegetables stuffed into a flour tortilla served with choice of fresh salsa.
  • Draft Picks – A variety of fan favorites and a sampling of the brand new Legends menu.

As part of this two-year renovation, all the remaining food and beverage locations on the concourses will be overhauled, and 25 new portable food and beverage carts will be introduced. More than 12,000 square feet of reconfigured common space designed to provide fans with a new place to socialize, dine and drink have been incorporated into the new design. Two new ‘Market places’ and multiple Craft Beer Bars integrate local neighborhood flavors into the arena experience.

LEGENDS
Legends, TD Garden’s largest restaurant, located on level three of the arena, received a comprehensive renovation and will open to members tonight. This private hospitality area is open to eligible Bruins and Celtics season ticket holders. The extreme makeover of this space includes a reconfigured footprint, modern sports theme design, and refreshed culinary offerings, featuring a raw bar, brick oven and charcuterie station. Two new bars will provide a broad selection of craft beer in addition to top-shelf drinks. Award-winning Sportservice chefs will display their culinary talents in an open kitchen concept as they prepare made-to-order meals.

Legends also houses the Celtics Sun Life Courtside Club. The expanded Celtics Sun Life Courtside Club has been repositioned and is undergoing a complete remodel, giving Celtics Courtside Club members closer and more convenient access to the club from their seats. The design elements of the new club draw from the storied franchise and incorporate state-of-the-art technology, including a 55-foot media wall. The Celtics Sun Life Courtside Club is expected to be completed by the Celtics home opener.

TECHNOLOGY
TD Garden upgrades feature new state-of-the-art technology solutions using Cisco’s Connected Stadium Wi-Fi & StadiumVision to create innovative digital fan experiences well into the future. With the support of over 400 antennas, high-density Wi-Fi is now accessible throughout the arena, providing guests easy access to TD Garden’s custom app and team apps. An industry first, TD Garden is the first arena to add Wi-Fi hot-spot antennas within the hockey boards. Guests can quickly send pictures and post on their favorite social media sites while relishing in their sports and entertainment experience. The TD Garden app, available for download in iTunes and Google Play, has a special ‘Check-in and Win’ functionality and contest for every arena event.
New technology integrated into the arena’s overall renovation also includes over 200 dynamic digital signage boards via Cisco StadiumVision and Vivonet’s cloud-based point-of-sale technology for Sportservice’s food and beverage locations.

TD Garden has also introduced interactive Digital Directories on level 4. A unique touch screen allows guests to search for various food options in the new concession areas while visually providing direction and the quickest path to arena locations such as the nearest restrooms, retail stands and even the ticketed seat location for the event. This technology sets the infrastructure for future interactive fan experiences.

PHASE II / ONGOING
This two-year renovation project will continue at TD Garden throughout the season with as minimal impact to guests as possible. Major construction on the level 7 concourse is slated for the summer of 2015, while additional concession stands will be upgraded throughout the season.
A new ProShop is currently under construction on the arena’s east side second floor, known as the main turnstile area. Plans include expanded retail offerings, optimized traffic flow and allow for increased accessibility for fans before, during and after the games. The new ProShop will feature a complete redesign and a “Powered by Reebok/Adidas” partnership with the Bruins and Celtics, respectively, representing part of a new, three-year deal with the official outfitters of the NHL and NBA. Construction began in early May, with a targeted completion date by year-end. The existing store is operational during this time.
These major investments are part of the ongoing commitment of Delaware North Companies to maintain the arena’s industry-leading status, with the primary focus on the fan experience, as it approaches its 20-year anniversary. Prior to this renovation project, the Jacobs family and Delaware North Companies have privately financed more than $20 million over the last four years on renovations to TD Garden’s Premium Club products, a new ecofriendly roof and technology upgrades.
