Celtics Host Reading Event Featuring Educational Animal Show

BOSTON (November 10, 2009) - The Boston Celtics hosted a special reading event with children from Franklin Park Tenants Association at the State Room as part of the team's Read to Achieve program, presented by Kia Motors. Celtics players Rajon Rondo, Glen Davis, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker read with children and played with some exotic animals, including a baby alligator, flying squirrel and bearded dragon, courtesy of Curious Creatures.

"We had a great afternoon reading with the children and got to see some really neat animals," Rondo said. "This was a really exciting experience, not just for the kids, but for us too. It was a really fun environment to read and learn about these amazing creatures."

Along with reading about the exotic animals, the players also shared some of their favorite books and discussed the importance of reading in their lives. The children also enjoyed breathtaking views of the city.

Read to Achieve is a NBA program designed to promote the value of reading and to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books. The Boston Celtics Read to Achieve program is supported locally by Kia Motors and ReadBoston.
