BOSTON (October 26, 2009) - The Boston Celtics raised over $700,000 for area children's charities at their annual Shamrock Gala, benefitting the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Proceeds from the event benefit the focus partners of the Shamrock Foundation including Perkins School for the Blind, Boston Children's Hospital, Horizons for Homeless Children, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), and Berklee College of Music.

"This gala dinner is a wonderful celebration to start of a new season and also raise funds for the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation to improve the lives of Boston-area children," Celtics Co-owner and Shamrock Foundation President Steve Pagliuca said. "Each year I am always impressed by the generosity of Celtics fans, and tonight we were able to greatly aid some very worth organizations."

The event was emceed by WEEI-AM personality Glenn Ordway, who moderated an informal discussion with the 2009-10 team and coaching staff, as well as numerous Celtics legends. Additionally, the team participated in a game of "Pictionary" as the main entertainment of the evening.

Among the amazing auction items at the Gala were a trip for two to be on the set of the HBO series "Entourage" complete with airfare, dinner and accommodations in Los Angeles, courtesy of the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation.
