Celtics serve meals to homeless shelter guests at Rosie's Place
BOSTON (Feb. 9, 2010) - The Boston Celtics helped out in the community by cooking and serving to the women and children of Rosie's Place, located at 889 Harrison Ave. Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, forward Shelden Williams, Co- Owner and Managing Partner Stephen Pagliuca and Celtics Women's Group member Judy Pagliuca, along with the Celtics staff, were able to feed 150 homeless people on Monday, February 8, at Rosie's Place in Boston's South End.
The Celtics Director of Community Relations Rebekah Splaine, said, "On behalf of the Boston Celtics, and the Shamrock Foundation, we are thrilled to provide a warm meal and much-needed resources to the friends and families of Rosie's Place. They are an amazing organization in our community, and have helped save many lives, and we are proud to be a part of that impact."
Rosie's Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women, offers emergency and long-term assistance to women who have nowhere else to turn. Founded in 1974, Rosie's Place welcomes each guest with respect and unconditional love. Rosie's Place accepts no government funds, and relies instead on committed volunteers and private supporters to accomplish its effective and innovative work.
