BOSTON (Jan. 26, 2010) - Boston Celtics Captain Paul Pierce and forward Rasheed Wallace performed in a play with students from the Ellis Memorial After School Program at Madison Park today as part of the Celtics Read to Achieve program.
"It's very important that children learn to love reading at a young age," Pierce said. "We had a great time today performing the play with them. Whether acting in a play with friends or sitting by yourself, reading is a great form of entertainment."
Pierce and Wallace acted out scenes from a play based on the children's book "The Clever Boy and the Terrible, Dangerous Animal" by Idries Shah. They also discussed their favorite books and the importance of reading in their lives as well as read with students from third, fourth and fifth grades from the school.
