Celtic and Local Students "Paint the City Green"
BOSTON (October 8, 2010) – The Boston Celtics, along with students from the Farragut Elementary School, welcomed Celtics Avery Bradley, Luke Harangody, Stephane Lasme, Von Wafer, and Mario West to Boston with a special reading event as part of the Read to Achieve program, presented by Kia Motors
“I had a great time reading and touring the city with the children,” Bradley said. “I was able to learn a lot about Boston and I read a great book to them, “Make Way For Ducklings”. We had a great day together.”
The players read with students from the Farragut Elementary School and shared some of their favorite books with them. They also discussed the importance of reading in their lives. After reading, the players and students toured historic sites around the city on a Duck Boat and handed out special Boston Celtics t-shirts courtesy of ADIDAS to pedestrians around the city.
Read to Achieve is an NBA program designed to promote the value of reading and to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books. The Boston Celtics Read to Achieve program is supported locally by Kia Motors and ReadBoston.
