BCSF Hosts Third Annual USI Shamrock Classic

Boston (Sept. 23, 2010) -- The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation hosted the third annual USI Shamrock Classic, presented by Old Mutual, Arbella and Consolidated Printing, at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA.

Boston Celtics Co-owners Wyc Grousbeck, Stephen Pagliuca, and Bob Epstein, Celtics Head Coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers, and President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge helped raise money for the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. Also playing in the tournament were Celtics players Ray Allen, Tony Gaffney, Oliver Lafayette, and Nate Robinson. At the reception and dinner Shaquille O’Neal came to show his support.

"It was a great day at Granite Links and even better day for the many children who are supported by the Shamrock Foundation," Pagliuca said. "We are very appreciative to our sponsors and donors who supported this event. This support means the world to our focus partners whose entire focus is giving children opportunity, shelter, education and healthcare."

The tournament was followed by a brief dinner and awards program featuring a live and silent auction. All proceeds from the event went to the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, which benefits Perkins School for the Blind, Boston Children’s, Horizons for Homeless Children, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) and Berklee College of Music.

"My teammates and I enjoyed playing golf to aid these wonderful charities," Ray Allen said. "Thank you to everyone that contributed to the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation."
