Celtics Acquire Draft Rights to Johnson

BOSTON – The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired the draft rights to JaJuan Johnson from the New Jersey Nets and a future second-round pick from New Jersey in exchange for the draft rights to Marshon Brooks.

Johnson, a 6-foot-10, 221 pound forward, was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 20.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. The native of Indianapolis, Ind., was named a Consensus First-Team All-American last year and won the Pete Newell National Big Man of the Year award. Johnson was also named a finalist for the Oscar Robertson, John R. Wooden and Naismith player of the year awards.
