Read to Achieve Event Hosted at Garden
BOSTON (February 6, 2012) – Boston Celtics Mickael Pietrus, E’Twaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson and Chris Wilcox hosted an interactive reading session and scavenger hunt through The Sports Museum, located on levels 5 and 6 of the TD Garden, for students from the Winthrop Elementary School. The event was part of the Celtics Read to Achieve Program, presented by Kia Motors.
“Today was a fun and interactive day that emphasized to students the importance reading plays in all of our lives,” Boston Celtics Chris Wilcox said. “It was really cool taking a tour of The Sports Museum and seeing the history of the Celtics and other Boston sports teams.”
The players lead the students through one of Boston’s premiere destinations for sports fans, The Sports Museum at the TD Garden. As they presented the students with questions, students would then hunt down the answers through the museum, while learning the storied history of the Boston Celtics. They also discussed their favorite books and the importance of reading in their lives.
Read to Achieve is a NBA program designed to promote the value of reading and to build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books. The Boston Celtics Read to Achieve program is supported locally by Kia Motors and ReadBoston.
