Celtics To Host Seats for Soldiers Night
BOSTON (Tuesday, January 17) – The Boston Celtics will again host members of the United States Armed Services and their families for the home game on Wednesday, January 18 against the Toronto Raptors as part of the fifth annual Seats for Soldiers program, presented by the Army National Guard of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. Seats for Soldiers gives Celtics fans the opportunity to donate their tickets to the game and allow members of each branch of the armed services to attend in their seat.
“This is always a special night for the entire Celtics organization being able to provide our soldiers with the opportunity to enjoy a night out at the TD Garden,” Boston Celtics Team President Rich Gotham said. “Through the success of the Seats for Soldiers program our fans have donated over 800 tickets to these courageous individuals who defend our country.”
Prior to the game on January 18, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge will host a live teleconference with soldiers who are serving overseas. The teleconference will take place at 6PM at the TD Garden on the 9th floor. During the game the Celtics will honor members of the armed forces with various in-game features. Voice of Freedom will perform the National Anthem as members of the 54th Honor Guard present the colors and 20 military personnel comprise the high five tunnel. The Celtics and the Massachusetts State Lottery will honor LCpl (Lance Corporal) William Donovan Jr as a Hero Among Us. Also, throughout the game the Celtics will provide a live feed from an oversees base of soldiers watching the game, and one lucky soldier in attendance will receive a free seat upgrade courtesy of the TD Garden and the Boston Celtics.
Fans interested in donating tickets can call 617-854-8013 or email email@example.com. Additionally, Boston Celtics season ticket holders will be able to donate their tickets by logging onto their account at www.celtics.com/sth. All donated tickets are given to the USO New England for distribution within the military branches. Last season Celtics fans donated over 500 tickets to the Seats for Soldiers program.
The Seats for Soldiers donations are products of a unique collaborative effort among the USO New England, Army National Guard of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire, Boston Celtics, Celtics season ticket holders and fans that purchased tickets for the January 18th home game. All of the seats donated are voluntarily contributed to allow members of the armed services and their families to attend the game in their place.
