Celtics Announce 2006-2007 NBA Regular Season Schedule

Team Kicks Off Season with Exciting Week of Home Games vs. Hornets and Pistons

BOSTON – The Boston Celtics announced their 2006-2007 regular season schedule today. The 82-game schedule consists of 41 home dates and 41 road contests, and is set to run from Wednesday, November 1 through Wednesday, April 18.

The Celtics, led by five-time NBA All-Star Paul Pierce, kick off their season with an exciting week of home games. The season starts when the Celtics host the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, and continues on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. when the Green host Eastern Conference powerhouse the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics will play eight of their first 12 games at home. The Celtics open the away slate when they travel to Washington to meet the Wizards, on Saturday, November 4. It is the first of 20 back-to-back games in the 2006-2007 campaign.

The NBA World Champion Miami Heat, led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal visit Boston on Wednesday, February 7 and on Friday, April 6. In addition, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the TD Banknorth Garden on Wednesday, January 3 and on Sunday, April 1. The Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks led by Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry will come to Boston on Friday, March 23 and the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant will make their lone Boston appearance on Wednesday, January 31.

The longest homestands of the season are two four-game series, the first beginning Sunday, March 4 vs. Minnesota and ending Sunday, March 11 vs. Chicago, and the second series beginning Wednesday, March 21 vs. Charlotte and ending Wednesday, March 28 vs. Orlando. The longest road trips of the upcoming season will be two five-game trips during December and February. The Celtics will play five straight games on the road beginning on Tuesday, December 26 at Denver, and ending on Monday, January 1 with a visit to Portland. The second five-game trip begins in Sacramento Monday, February 20, and ends on Monday, February 26 at Houston.

For the 26th consecutive year, Fox Sports Net New England will continue to be the exclusive television home of Celtics basketball games. The team will also appear on national television nine times during the course of the season, beginning with the road-opener at Washington on Saturday, November 4 on NBA-TV. The Celtics will appear on NBA-TV on six other occasions. The Celtics will appear on ESPN once, when they host division rival, the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, December 22. The team is scheduled for one appearance on ABC when they host the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, March 11 at 3:30 p.m. The Boston Celtics radio broadcast team of Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell return for another exciting season on WRKO-AM.
