Pregame –Bradley Making Great Strides Toward Return

TORONTO – Avery Bradley will miss his 21st game tonight in Toronto due to an Achilles injury he suffered in early January.

The good news is that he likely won’t miss many more.

Ahead of tip-off at Air Canada Centre, Celtics coach Brad Stevens said that the veteran guard made great strides during All-Star break and could return any day.

“Avery had a great one-on-one session today – it was really his first live action (in more than a month) – after we were done with shootaround, and he felt really good,” said Stevens. “He’s going to do what he needs to do tonight from a rehab recovery standpoint, try to do another workout tomorrow, same thing Sunday (in Detroit), and just keep going day-to-day.”

Bradley spoke to the media this morning prior to his practice session and said his Achilles was feeling “100 percent.” He noted, however, that the training staff is being cautious and told him he has to complete his rehab plan before returning.

Bradley’s goal is to return to Boston’s rotation Sunday night against the Pistons.

“It’s all positive,” Stevens of Bradley’s condition. “He’s getting a lot closer to playing, and hopefully, I don’t want to put a timeline on it, but I think we’ll see him sooner rather than later.”

Jaylen Brown, who returns tonight after being sidelined for three games with a hip flexor injury, will start in Bradley’s place.
