Paul Pierce Injury Update

According to Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss, Paul Pierce sustained a bruise under his right eye and a cut in his mouth during Wednesday night's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. The injuries are not serious and he is not expected to to miss any action.

Pierce left the game at the 4:02 mark of the third quarter after taking an accidental poke in the face from Charlotte's Gerald Wallace.

Celtics Coach Doc Rivers told reporters in his postgame address that Pierce could have returned to action in the fourth quarter but he elected to keep him on the bench. Pierce finished with 23 points (9-16 FGs), two rebounds and two assists in just over 23 minutes of play.
