I want to start by thanking you. When I got traded here I have to admit I really didn’t know what to expect. You hear how tough the Boston fans can be and how sometimes this is a tough place to play. Well let me tell you, that is a bunch of garbage. The fans here in my opinion are the best in the league.
The organization is different here as well. From our Owners, to Danny Ainge, my teammates, the Tradition, the Championships, Legends, you name it, there is no place like Boston. A few weeks ago I walked into the locker room and I smelled something burning. I looked around at my teammates and everybody was going about their business like nothing was wrong. I was ready to grab my stuff and hightail it to the exit, I thought the building was on fire. I said “you guys don’t smell that smoke” they just laughed and said Red was at the game. I went around the corner and there he was, Red Auerbach smoking a cigar waiting for the game to start. I was like, “yeah, Red is here, let’s play ball!” Who else can say that in the NBA?
So much history, but that’s why you, in my opinion, are the most knowledgeable fans when it comes to the game. You reward hard work and let us know when we are slackin’ which makes me and my teammates want to got the extra mile for you. I guess that’s why I always try to give you a little something extra on those breakaways.
Are you ready for the Playoffs? I can’t wait! This will be my first playoff action and I am ready to roll. I have been watching the playoffs for so long on TV dreaming about getting the chance to play. We honestly feel we can compete with any team in the East. Hopefully we can get by Indiana and into the Finals, but I realize you have to take it one game at time. Obviously getting one game there is key, to be no worse than tied 1-1 coming back here to “The Jungle” would be huge.
That’s where you come into play. I remember watching the Celtics two years ago in the Conference Finals. My biggest memory of that series was the home games in Boston. There was a sea of Green and White and it was so loud on TV, I can’t imagine what it was like in the building. But I don’t have to wonder much longer, because we will be back here for games three and four and the house will be rockin’.
We have a young team, but we also have talent. No matter what happens, I take pride in the fact we were able to make the Playoffs considering our youth and inexperience as well as all the changes this year. I think with a few new pieces over the summer and a training camp and full season together, we will be right back in the thick of it next year.
Alright fans, it’s time to get serious and pumped for the Playoffs. Or as I like to say, it’s time to GET BUCKETS!
See you at the Fleet.
