Jefferson Named To got milk? NBA All-Rookie Second Team

BOSTON, MA (May 5, 2005) – The NBA announced today that Celtics forward Al Jefferson was named to the 2004-05 got milk? NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Jefferson, the 15th overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft out of Prentiss H.S. (MS), appeared in 71 games for the Celtics, averaging 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game. The 6-10 forward scored a career-high 19 points in the Celtics 101-99 win over Miami April 15.

On the season Jefferson finished 3rd among rookies in field goal percentage (52.8%). He scored 10+ points 17 times, with the Celtics going 13-4 in those games and he led the team in rebounding eight times. He becomes the first Celtics first round draft pick to be named All-Rookie since Paul Pierce was named First Team All-Rookie in 1998. Jefferson is the 15th Celtic overall to be named All-Rookie and the first since J.R. Bremer was named Third Team All Rookie in 2003.

NBA All-Rookie Second Team are Nenad Krstic (New Jersey), Josh Smith (Atlanta), Josh Childress (Atlanta) and Jameer Nelson, while the First Team consists of Emeka Okafor (Charlotte), Dwight Howard (Orlando), Ben Gordon (Chicago), Andre Igoudala (Philadelphia) and Luol Deng (Chicago).
