BOSTON (July 21, 2002) – The Boston Celtics and Shaw’s Supermarkets announced today that Dion Glover of the Atlanta Hawks is the winner of the Shaw’s Cup as the most outstanding performer at the 2002 Shaw’s Pro Summer League.

Glover led Atlanta to a perfect 6-0 record this past week, averaging a team-high 17.8 points per game. Glover joins previous winners of the award, Seattle’s Desmond Mason (2000) and Philadelphia’s Raja Bell (2001).

Celtics General Manager Chris Wallace, UMass-Boston Athletic Director Charlie Titus, and Paul Gannon, President and Chief Operating Officer of Shaw’s Supermarkets were on hand to present the award to Glover.

”Dion Glover’s play represents the great young talent that has performed this week at the Shaw’s Pro Summer League,” said Wallace. “The league provides NBA general managers, coaches and scouts, as well as basketball fans from the Boston community, with a unique opportunity to watch some of the leagues future stars in the intimate setting of Clark Athletic Center at UMass-Boston.”

Glover is joined on the Shaw’s Pro Summer League First Team by Boston’s Joseph Forte and Kedrick Brown, New Jersey’s Richard Jefferson, and Milwaukee’s Ronald Murray.
