Boston Celtics Tip-Off 2005-06 Season at TD Banknorth Garden with Fan Friendly Game Entertainment

(November 2, 2005) – As the Boston Celtics tip-off the 2005-06 season with a home game at the TD Banknorth Garden against Atlantic Division-rival New York Knicks, the team will unveil several new, fan friendly game entertainment initiatives for fans.

Fans attending Celtics home games will notice increased player/fan accessibility, with players signing autographs both courtside and on the concourse pre-game, as well as distributing promotional items at select games. In addition, fans will see new player interactive videos throughout the game on the TD Banknorth Garden Jumbotron, with special access to player events and features with both the players and Celtics mascot LUCKY. Continuing their efforts to make Celtics games fun for families, at every home game, 25 children of Celtics season ticket holders will be invited to line the court and welcome the players from both teams as they take the court just prior to tip-off.

In addition, fans attending select Celtics home games will be treated to special post-game concerts sponsored by Verizon Wireless. The first concert, after the Celtics host the Seattle Sonics on Wednesday, November 16th, will feature Boston-based band The Click Five.

“It is very important to us that our fans enjoy their experience each time they attend a Celtics game,” said Rich Gotham, Boston Celtics Executive Vice President. “We hope that these new initiatives will help bring our fans closer to our players and will also provide them with entertainment from the moment they enter the arena until the game concludes.”

During home games, fans will also be treated to a new and improved Green Team, sponsored by Southwest Airlines. The Celtics have also added a new in-arena host, Julie Wetherbee, to interact with fans throughout the game, hosting on-court promotions during timeouts and visiting with fans in the stands. Returning to the in-game entertainment roster will be LUCKY and the Slamrocks, providing rim shaking dunk shows and entertainment, as well as the popular dance groups Phunk and Lil’ Phunk. On the arena concourse, fans will be treated to live entertainment, balloon artists and face painting stations on all levels.

Ticket prices for most home games range from $10 in the Brooks Pharmacy Family Section to $160. For the 2005-06 season, the Celtics have announced two new ticket programs: a Family Ticket Package and a Student Ticket Discount Program. The Family Ticket Package includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas to select home games for as little as $119, a savings of nearly 40%.
