Celtics Sign Moore
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed free agent center Mikki Moore to a 10-day contract.
Moore has been playing with the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBDL this season. In his 19 games (all starts) with the club, he has averaged 15.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game. He is currently ranked first in the NBDL in blocks, third in rebounds, eighth in scoring, tied for eighth in field goal percentage and 13th in free throw percentage.
Prior to playing with the Dazzle, Moore played with the Detroit Pistons for four seasons (1998-2002). In his 142 games with the club, he averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game.
Moore also participated in training camps with the San Antonio Spurs in 2002 and the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1997. He played two seasons with the Fort Wayne Fury of the CBA (1997-1999), and also had a brief stint with Papagou in Greece.
In a related move, the team placed forward Ruben Wolkowyski on the Injured List. Wolkowyski is recovering from an appendectomy that took place on January 4, 2003.
