Team Also Unveils Season Ticket Playoff Discount and Playoff Seat Giveaway
Boston, MA (March 17, 2003) -- The Boston Celtics today announced several key dates for the 2003 NBA Playoffs as well as their 2003-2004 ticket prices and season ticket holder benefits.
With the NBA Playoffs slated to tip-off in certain cities on April 19th and the Celtics poised for another return to the postseason, several key dates have been released for fans who want to be a part of the action. The team is excited to announce that any current season or partial season ticket holder who renews for the 2003-2004 season by April 7th, will receive their 2003 NBA Playoff seats at the current rate (no additional charge). The Celtics will be among a small group of teams who will offer playoff tickets at consistent pricing while the average increase for NBA Playoff seating in other cities has been approximately 30%. On April 8th, the Celtics will place 2003 NBA Playoff strips on sale to the general public and on April 12th individual tickets for Games A & B of the 2003 NBA Playoffs will go on sale.
"The excitement of Celtics Playoff basketball is right around the corner and as we continue with our playoff push we wanted to notify our fans of some important dates," said Celtics Executive Vice President John Brody.
In addition to maintaining the current rate for playoff pricing for season and partial ticket holders who renew, the Celtics are also proud to offer the following value-added opportunities to season ticket holders:
- Celtics season ticket holders located in certain selected Loge sections who purchase tickets for the 2003 NBA Playoffs and renew for next season, will not only receive their 2003 NBA Playoff seats at the current 2002-2003 regular season price, but will also receive the same amount of additional tickets (one per each seat currently held) free for the First Round of the 2003 NBA Playoffs.
- Celtics season ticket holders will enjoy many new amenities including increased access to the players and coaches, the opportunity to buy additional playoff ticket "strips" at their flat regular season price, and access to the new Celtics secondary ticket market to sell or purchase any unused season tickets.
- Celtics season ticket holders will enjoy a 10% discount over the individual game ticket price.
The team also announced today an increase in the average ticket price in selected sections while reducing prices and maintaining current price structures in others. Under the new structure, Boston Celtics season ticket prices will continue to rank favorably compared to other similar NBA markets. On a season ticket basis, several Loge section areas will remain the same in price, or in some cases, decrease in price. In the Balcony section, the number of $10 seats has been expanded to 1,582 which places Boston in the top five among NBA teams for total amount of $10 seats available.
"Our quest for a 17th NBA Championship remains the ultimate goal," added Brody. "We felt it necessary to restructure our pricing and enhance our benefits at this time to help achieve that goal for the best fans in sports."
The Celtics are now accepting deposits on full and partial season tickets for the 2003-2004 season. Tickets for individual games will be available in September.
