Celtics Deal McCarty To Phoenix

BOSTON, MA (February 8, 2005) -- The Boston Celtics announced today that they have traded forward Walter McCarty to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a Second Round Draft Pick. In a related move the Celtics have activated forward Justin Reed.

McCarty spent seven and a half seasons with the Celtics, averaging 5.7 points and 2.8 boards in 19.2 minutes per game. Overall, he’s played eight and half seasons in the NBA, averaging 5.4 points and 2.7 boards in 18.3 minutes per game. This season, the 6-10 forward is averaging 3.7 points and 1.8 boards in 12.6 minutes per game.

Reed, the 40th overall selection of the 2004 NBA Draft has appeared in eight games, averaging 0.8 points in 2.1 minutes per game.
