Celtics and Pepsi to host Opening Night Block Party on November 2nd

BOSTON (October 26, 2005) – To show their support for their favorite basketball team as they prepare to tip-off the 2005-06 season, Celtics fans are invited to the Boston Celtics Opening Night Block Party presented by Pepsi to be held before their game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, November 2nd.

Presenting sponsor Pepsi and the Celtics will hold a two-hour festival along Canal Street from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. During the party, the Pepsi Street Team will be on-site sampling free product, and a half basketball court will be set up for a live dunk show by the Slamrocks. Also in attendance will be Celtics legends Robert Parish and JoJo White and members of the Southwest Airlines Green Team with free giveaways including tickets to the season opener as well as upcoming games.

Broadcasting from the event will be FSN New England with New England Sports Tonight hosts Greg Dickerson and Gary Tanguay providing interviews and updates. WRKO 680 AM, the new radio broadcast partner of the Boston Celtics, will also be on-site with their new Celtics Street Team to help giveaway various prizes.

Children will have an opportunity to have their faces painted, be entertained by magicians, a balloon artist and play on inflatables such as pop a shot and a giant moon-bounce. A local DJ will provide live music and entertainment, and all of the bars located on Canal Street will be open for business. Fans must be 21 years of age to enter any bar with valid ID.

Tickets for Opening Night and all Boston Celtics home games are on sale now and start at just $10 in the Brooks Pharmacy Family Section. Tickets can be purchased by logging on to www.celtics.com, by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX or by visiting the TD Banknorth Garden Box Office.
