Boston’s Paul Pierce And Sacramento’s Peja Stojakovic Named NBA Eastern And Western Conference Players Of The Week

NEW YORK, December 15 - The Boston Celtics' Paul Pierce and Sacramento Kings' Peja Stojakovic were today named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, December 8 through Sunday, December 14.

The Celtics finished the week with a 4-0 record behind his 31.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.25 steals and 1.5 blocks for the week.

Stojakovic and the Kings are on a four-game winning streak and finished the week with a 3-0 record behind his averages of 28.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Here is a closer look at the week for Pierce and Stojakovic:

Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
  • December 8 at Utah - Had 14 points, 4 rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 102-80 win over the Jazz.
  • December 10 vs. Seattle - Had 36 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and two steals in a 126-112 win over the visiting Sonics.
  • December 12 vs. Toronto - Recorded 33 points while adding 11 rebounds, five assists and a steal as the Celtics defeated the Raptors 114-111.
  • December 13 at Cleveland - Scored a season-high 41 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks as the Celtics defeated the Cavaliers 105-98.

Peja Stojakovic, Sacramento Kings
  • December 9 vs. L.A. Clippers - Had 26 points and four rebounds as the Kings defeated the visiting Clippers 105-95.
  • December 12 at Utah - Tallied 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Kings defeated the Jazz 100-93 at the Delta Center.
  • December 14 vs. Phoenix - Scored 36 points to go along with three rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 107-102 win over the Suns.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Indiana's Ron Artest, Los Angeles Clippers Corey Maggette, Miami's Lamar Odom, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett, New Orleans' Baron Davis, Orlando's Tracy McGrady and San Antonio's Manu Ginobili.
