CommUNITY Crew Announces November Events

BOSTON (November 1, 2011) – Members of the Boston Celtics CommUNITY Crew, in partnership with Arbella Insurance, including members of Celtics staff, team partners, season ticket holders and legends will be volunteering at six events over the next 10 days beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Celtics legend Dave Cowens will be among the CommUNITY Crew members serving lunch to veterans from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. The mission of the NECHV is to extend a helping hand to homeless veterans to help them reintegrate into meaningful employment and independent living.

In addition, members of the Celtics CommUNITY Crew including Team President Rich Gotham will be serving hot meals from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Women’s Lunch Place. The Women's Lunch Place provides a safe, comfortable daytime shelter, nutritious food, and services for women who are homeless or poor.

“The Boston Celtics have always been about giving back to the community and this program continues that tradition,” Boston Celtics President Rich Gotham said. “We are committed to work of the Celtics CommUNITY Crew and would like to thank all of those that have volunteered including the entire Celtics staff, as well as team partners and season ticketholders.”

During the first two weeks of November the Boston Celtics CommUNITY Crew will continue to partner with many other local charitable and volunteer organizations including, Cradles to Crayons, Pine Street Inn, InnerCity Weightlifting, Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, and Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation. Since its creation in September, the Celtics CommUNITY Crew has volunteered more than 1,400 community service hours.
