Celtics Head Coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers, President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge and Celtics Coach Armond Hill, along with legends Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Dave Cowens, Tommy Heinsohn and Dana Barros helped raise money for the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. In addition, Boston Celtics co-owners Wyc Grousbeck, Stephen Pagliuca, Bob Epstein and Celtics President Rich Gotham were on-hand. Dropkick Murphys lead singer Ken Casey, WEEI’s morning show host Gerry Callahan and Comcast Sports Net Mike Gorman all showed their support as well.
“Today was not only a fun day at the Weston Golf Club but it is even more exciting to know how many children will be helped from the support we received today for the Shamrock Foundation,” Pagliuca said. “We are so thankful to our sponsors, donors and everyone who supported this event. This support means even more in today's tough economy.”
The tournament featured a Parquet Putting Contest presented by Arbella Insurance and Closest to the Pin Contest presented by Sentient Jet. The tournament was followed by a brief dinner and awards program featuring a live and silent auction. All proceeds from the event went to the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, which benefits Perkins School for the Blind, Boston Children’s, Horizons for Homeless Children, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), Berklee College of Music and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
