Live Scoreboard

The wait is over.

The new-look Celtics finally take the court on Saturday night in Rome at 8:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Boston) when they meet Chris Bosh and the Atlantic Division champion Toronto Raptors at PalaLottomattica.

The game will mark the Celtics debut of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen as Celtics, and immediately following the contest in Rome, the team jets off to London where they'll meet Al Jefferson and the revamped Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

A wild offseason finds the Celtics with nine new players under contract, none larger than 10-time All-Star Kevin Garnett. But Garnett probably wouldn't be in Boston if it weren't for the draft night acquisition of Ray Allen. And to round out the roster, the team signed key veteran role players James Posey and Eddie House. Scot Pollard, who was also signed over the offseason, is not with the team (ankle).

The big story for Toronto is the homecoming of Italian star Andrea Bargnani. He got a huge ovation when he first appeared in the arena, and Bargnani made more news here in Rome when the Raptors announced that he just signed a contract extension that will keep him in Toronto through 2009.

To commemorate the occasion, the Celtics are wearing special Italian versions of their road-alternate jersey with the colors of the Italian flag mixed into the shamrock and "BOSTON" wordmark across their chest.

The Raptors' big move over the summer was adding NBA three-point contest champ Jason Kapono, but they already have a solid core of players built around rising young power forward Chris Bosh that makes them a threat.
