Dear Celtics Fans --
Hey there Boston... I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how good it is to be back in the green and white! Since the time I was traded 16 months ago, I hoped that one day I would be in a position to come back to the Celtics and play for this organization again, because this is where I really feel at home. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I got the call from Danny... don't get me wrong, being traded is a difficult thing. But this is like a storybook situation for me and my family. For us, Boston is home - this is where my roots are. This is where I want to be, and you are who I want to be playing in front of each and every night.
This team is very, very different from when I left. The young guys Danny has brought in are great - it is a lot of fun to watch Big Al, Marcus, Tony, Delonte and Perk. Even in the few practices, they amaze me. I am sure you all saw how Marcus got up to block that shot from Stephen Hunter the other night - I mean, that was incredible. And then Delonte scrambling on the floor to grab that loose ball and having the presence of mind to call a time out - that was a veteran play, a smart basketball play. The future of this team is bright, and I am proud to be a part of it. Right now all I can do is come in to work every day and get to know this new system and see what I can do to help take the team to the next level.
Paul and I are excited to be playing together again, and I think that we can help teach these young guys how to win in the NBA. Paul and I have always played well together, and I think we can help bring these other guys along, because there is definitely a lot of talent on this team to work with. And with Doc at the helm, the possibilities are there for us to do great things in the Atlantic division and beyond. So I am excited about the next two months and making a big push towards the playoffs. I love playing in the postseason, and I fully expect you all to be at the Fleet to cheer us on every step of the way.
So thanks for welcoming me back, and I can't wait to see you all real soon at the arena. It's great to be a Celtic again.
